TAS Mentor Program

The purpose of the TAS Family Mentor program is to ensure the long-term viability of the special culture that exists within TAS. The Mentor program welcomes new families into the TAS community, and supports their learning process through the complicated process of ski racing. It also promotes team work, respect and sportsmanship.

The mentor program ensures the culture and traditions of TAS are passed on from returning families and athletes to new families and athletes. It promotes our team atmosphere, and assists new families and athletes to navigate what can be the seemingly overwhelming world of ski racing.

Process: Each season the Program Director and Board of Directors define the list of new TAS family members and assign a mentor family to a new family.

The Program Director communicates and reinforces the importance of creating a culture that welcomes and supports new TAS families into our special community and to the sport of ski racing.

Mentor Family Expectations:

  • Reach out to mentee family via email or phone call in December to introduce and to answer questions

Touch base throughout the season to clarify any questions about race logistics, training, gear, etc.

  • Athlete mentors to touch base with their “mentees” at least once per weekend, if possible.
  • Mentors will take at least one run per month with their mentees.

Mentee Expectations:

Be curious and ask your mentors questions so you are successful during training and at races

Get together with your mentors for apres ski and socialize!
